Scoring in the middle of the pack, the Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 is one of the larger battery packs but is far from being one of our favorites. There are other larger batteries that we liked a bit better, finding the PowerCore Speed 20000 to be a bit on the pricey side and lacking convenience features. It's a bit too big to be easily carried in a pocket and takes a very long time to recharge. Review: Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD Portable Charger. Anker PowerCore Speed 20000 PD Portable Charger. You may or may not have noticed that many high capacity external battery packs have more to offer than just a simple high power capacity. So we either recommend Ankerâs own PowerPort 2 that is capable of 2.4A Outputs.
Anker is one of the best and most popular brands for portable chargers (also known as power banks). However, a lot of confusion exists in the market about correct product timeline and differences in the features of multiple generations of Anker power banks â PowerCore II/PowerCore+/PowerCore/Redux/Lite/Astro â as well as the correct prices and official sellers on sites such as Amazon. For example, Anker offers seven different modelsof PowerCore power banks in 10000 mAH capacity and another seven types of different PowerCore chargers in 20000 mAH capacity!!
All of these are branded PowerCore II or PowerCore+ or PowerCore and look similar to each other but come with varying features and at similar price-points. Often, customers end up buying old versions of Anker power banks at same price as new and better Anker portable phone chargers. Also, many shady sellers on Amazon exploit this confusion to sell old versions of Anker products at high prices.
Here are four things to keep in mind before buying Anker battery packs â
PowerCore+ vs PowerCore II vs PowerCore Lite vs PowerCore vs Astro Difference
The PowerCore Redux series, Lite series, PowerCore II series and PowerCore+ series are the latest Anker series of portable chargers at present. However, many PowerCore series (without the +) portable chargers and much older Astro series of power banks are also currently available in same battery capacities as their Powercore+ or PowerCore II or PowerCore Lite/Redux equivalents. We have created handy Anker power bank comparison tables below for your reference â that are much better than the product tables at Amazonâs product pages â to help you make an informed decision.
More recent versions of Anker portable chargers will usually have better charging and device/battery protection technology as well as many additional features. For example, the latest Anker PowerCore II 20000 supports 18-watt fast charging compatible with maximum charging speeds of latest smartphones such as Galaxy S10, S9, S8, S8+, Pixel 3 etc. It also supports fast input, meaning the powerbank itself can be charged in just 5 hours compared to 10+ hrs taken by by older PowerCore 20100 and Astro E6 battery bank with the same 20000 mAH capacity.
Buy From AnkerDirect â The Only Official Anker Seller
An extremely important thing to remember is that AnkerDirect is the only seller authorized for selling Anker portable chargers on Amazon. A lot of scammer sellers sell Anker portable power packs on Amazon with various misleading names. Many of these fake sellers sell old Anker power banks at higher rates while some sell refurbished or even fake Anker portable chargers. Buying power banks from such fake sellers will not only cost you higher but will also not allow you to benefit from Ankerâs generous 18-month warranty and reliable customer service.
There are also very serious accident risks involved with buying fake Anker external battery packs that use cheap Li-ion batteries. At Powerbankguide.com, we give you direct links to buy authorized genuine Anker battery banks that ensure that you get genuine power banks at lowest prices and full warranty.
Choose the PowerCore II/PowerCore+ Portable Chargers Over AstroAnker has so far released two generations of Astro portable chargers, followed by multiple versions of PowerCore power banks, again followed by the Powercore+ series as well as the latest PowerCore II seriesand the 2018 Lite series. As old Astro series and PowerCore series portable chargers were not discontinued, this has created a lot of confusion in the market. The existence of all six series of products at once is also sometimes used by some scammers to sell very old (but well-known) versions of Anker portable chargers and that too at higher prices.
Anker is continually releasing new versions of PowerCore portable chargers with some new features that older PowerCores or PowerCore+ do not have! For example, the latest PowerCore II 10000 and the latest PowerCore II 20000 both offer fast charging (zero to 50% in 30 minutes) support for Samsung S10, S10+, S9, S8, S7, A9, A8, five-hour charging of the powerbank, and 3 amp charging for latest USB-C phones at almost the same or lower price as older versions. The latest versions also come with better charging chipsets that prevent heating while charging, thereby increasing efficiency and safety.

Another similar sounding but less-known power bank is the PowerCore II 10000 Slim powerbank that also offers 18-watt QuickCharge 2.0 compatible Input and Output for S10/S9/Note 9/S8/S7/S6 etc. and is also slimmer and narrower than old versions, thus making it much more pocketable. It is priced almost same as plain vanilla older PowerCore 10000 or PowerCore II 10000! If you are confused about portable charger models and compatibility, PowerCore II 10000 Slimis our favorite all-purpose Anker portable charger as it has perfect balance of portability, light weight, adequate power and speedy charging compatibility for both latest Android phones and iPhones while the power bank itself can gets charged in just 4 hours.
If you want a bigger portable charger (4+ charges for S10/S9/S8/iPhone XR/XS), you can get all these features in the latest PowerCore II 20000 which comes with fast input charging for charging the portable charger in just 5 hours compared to the minimum 10 hours taken by the older PowerCore 20100.
Fast-Charge latest iPhones with Ankerâs new USB-C PD Portable Chargers
For latest iPhones, the newly released PowerCore 10000 USB-C PD and Powercore Speed 20000 PD portable chargers will charge your iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, iPhone X, 8+ or 8 fromzero to 50% in just 30 minutes and can be recharged in just 4 hours. Both PowerCore 10000 PD and Powercore Speed 20000 PD support fastest charging for Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+, S8, S7, Note 8 as well, thereby making it among the most future-proof and best portable chargers available for smartphones.
If you own iPhones 7, 7 Plus, 6S etc. that do not support fast-charge, you can choose the much lower priced excellent PowerCore 10000 or Anker PowerCore 20100, which will charge your iPhone 7/7+/6S/5/SE. etc at fastest possible supported speeds (0 to 50% in about 35-40 minutes). Both will also charge Android phones at 12 watt maximum charging output, which may be slower than USB-C PD or QuickChargeâs 18 watt but is still twice to three times as fast as regular USB wall chargers (5 to 2.5 watt).
PowerCore II Portable Chargers are Better Than PowerCore Lite or PowerCore Redux
â¦as PowerCore Lite or Redux Do Not fast-charge or get charged faster than PowerCore II
In mid-2018, Anker released its latest portable chargers â PowerCore Lite 10000 , PowerCore 10000 Redux and PowerCore Lite 20000. All these power banks are displayed as newer versions of PowerCore II portable chargers on Amazon. However, even though these portable chargers are more recent launches and look cooler, the Lite or Redux series portable chargers get charged much slowly and also charge Android phones much slowly than the PowerCore II v. Lite/Redux series portable chargers are also NOT LIGHTER than PowerCore II or PowerCore power banks! So we recommend PowerCore II 10000 Slim and PowerCore II 20000 portable charger instead of the ânewerâ PowerCore Lite 10000, PowerCore 10000 Redux and PowerCore Lite 20000.
Here are the latest Anker PowerCore, PowerCore+, and PowerCore II External Battery Packs according to battery capacity. We have also included the shopping links for the only authorized Anker seller on Amazon â AnkerDirect. Before We go furtherâ¦

Pros
Cons
Anker has made some of the best portable chargers in the market, which is really one of the reasons why theyâre on our list as being one of the best brands that produce such awesome power banks. Their portable chargers are able to lead in this changing space because they always continue to innovate.
Not only is the innovation within their tech like the power capacity and charging speed of Anker power banks great, but itâs also their stylization. Their chargers look insanely aesthetic.
This is one of Ankerâs newest portable power bank chargers, the Anker PowerCore Elite 20000mAh and it really brings a full package to the portable charging space of chargers. Letâs a take a deeper look at why this power bank is able to deliver on nearly all cylinders.

Power Capacity:
The PowerCore Elite has a power capacity of 20,000mAh and for the Output power capacity, it can fluctuate because the power bank has 3 Output charging ports. Overall itâs going to depend on how many devices youâre going to be charging at once to really say how much Output power capacity youâre actually going to be receiving.
With that said weâre going to assume that for the most part, youâre going to be charging 2 devices at once and the max current thatâs being Outputted will be about 3.5A. Then you can expect an Output power capacity of about 17,000mAh.
Itâs important to know and remember that this power bank does not use Panasonic battery cells, and instead, it uses Lithium Polymer ones which is why conversion may be poorer than other Anker power banks.
Charging Smartphones, Mini Tablets and Full-Sized Tablets to Full Power
With that said, you can still get lots of full charges on plenty of devices, because this power bank is still a high capacity one. For most smartphones, youâll be able to get 5 full charges or more. As for the tablets, you can expect 2 full charges for small tablets like the iPad Mini 1 and 2 versions.
![]()
For full-sized tablets, youâll be able to get a full charge if youâre only charging it alone because that way youâll be using the entirety of the power capacity.
Itâs a large enough power capacity that you can use for days and possibly for weeks depending on the way you use it. The power capacity is indeed reliable enough for the 3 charging ports it has, itâs just that itâs very reliable when youâre charging small devices like smartphones.
This is mainly because smartphones donât require a massive amount of power capacity, and the charging speed is going to be at a rather intermediate rate.
Output Charging: Per Port: 5V/3.0A Max Output: 6 Amps
This is where things get the most interesting for the PowerCore Elite. Thatâs because it has 3 charging ports and Anker made sure that each one of the Output ports is very capable of providing an optimal charging experience.
Most of the time with powerful power banks, their standard ports are able to give a Max Standard charging speed of 5V/2.4A. Thatâs not the case here. Instead, this PowerCore takes it a step further with each of the Output ports being able to Output 5V/3.0A.
Very Fast Charing Through Each Port
So if you have a Quick Charge compatible device, this power bank can charge it near its max charging speed. However, itâs important to know that this power bank does NOT feature Quick Charge but itâs able to reach very close to Quick Charge speeds.
This means that you can charge nearly any USB charging device at its max charging speed. This is definitely true for tablets, as their max charging rate is 2.4 Amps. As for Non-Quick Charge smartphones, this will be able to charge them as their max charging speeds as well.
A Max Output for Stable Fast Charging
Then thereâs the fantastic Max Output. The Max Output of this power bank is 6 Amps, and this means that it can Output 6 Amps all at once.
So if youâve got 3 very high power demanding devices, like 3 iPads connected to the power bank at the same time, then it will be able to Output 2 Amps out of each of its ports so the Max Output of 6 Amps is reached. Even when youâre pushing the charging speed to its max potential itâs still able to give fast charging to nearly any device connected to it. Itâs true for iPads and itâs very true for smartphones.
If youâre charging 3 smartphones all at once, then itâs very rare for the power bank to have difficulty providing the optimal amount of power to them; unless if youâre charging 3 Quick Charge compatible devices at once.
Input Charging: Both Micro-USB Input Ports: 5V/2.0A Max Input: 4 Amps
One of the most welcoming parts of this power bank is the usage of 2 Micro-USB Input ports. This is an awesome feature that is mostly used with power banks that go beyond the 20,000mAh power capacity but this PowerCore 20000 takes advantage of it.
Each of the Input ports is able to recharge at a 5V/2.0A charging speed. So if youâre using a 2 Amp wall charger or higher that has 2 charging ports rated at 2 Amps, and youâre using the 2 Micro-USB Input ports, then this power bank will be able to fully recharge in just under 6 hours.
This is a phenomenal recharge speed because with another one Ankerâs power banks, the PowerCore 20100, that only has 1 Micro-USB Port, the recharge time is about 9 hours long. The usage of 2 Micro-USB Ports is a great step in the right direction because it can ultimately make recharge times for even larger capacity power banks quite short.
In this case, the PowerCore 20000 is able to recharge at 4 Amps! Anker also has another portable charger, the PowerCore 26800, that also uses 2 Micro-USB Input Ports.
Vinsic 28,000mAh Power Bank with Quick ChargeSimilar Power BankSize and Weight:
Itâs quite a large power bank and a heavy one at that as well. With that said, itâs nothing absurd and we think that the size is very compliant for what the power bank is capable of concerning its power capacity and charging ports.
It has a length of 6.2 inches, a width of 2.6 inches and a thickness 1.1 inches. Itâs quite heavy at 12.3 ounces and yet itâs still not a pound, so we think thatâs actually a plus.
Itâs indeed possible to hold this power bank while youâre charging something like your smartphone but if youâre charging 2 devices or 3 devices at the same time, then this portable charger isnât going to be very portable as youâll have no choice but to set it down.
Placing it into a bag will hold no problems, though.
Functional Components:
We absolutely love the design of this PowerCore Elite. It has all the aesthetic design queues that Anker is known for. With this one, the charger has a slightly curved top and completely flat bottom to it.
The bottom part is where most of the functional components are and this is where you can find the 3 Output ports on the same short-side, thereâs a power button on the long side, and the 2 Micro-USB Input ports are on the other long side of the power bank. On top is where there are 4 Blue LED Power capacity indicators.
Itâs just as easy to use as other Anker power banks with charging automatically starting when you connect a device to any of the charging ports and charging stops when there arenât any devices connected. This leaves the power button mainly to be used to check the power capacity when the unit is not in use.
Structure and Material:
This thing is built really well. Anker doesnât create any rugged power banks and most of the time we feel that is perfectly fine. This is because their power banks are just naturally built like their meant to last forever. Sure, this power bank isnât waterproof or shockproof from falls.
However, it keeps itself together with just 2 separate pieces keeping it together and itâs all made of plastic.
Itâs a perfect portable charger to take with you on road trips, possibly camping and is really meant for everyday use.
Tech:
On the tech side, the PowerCore Elite follows in the footsteps of its predecessors because it uses Ankerâs Multi-Safe Protection system that is able to keep charging stably even when youâre charging 3 devices at once. Also, the usage of PowerIQ and Voltage Boost keep charging fast.
Anker states that it uses Advanced Cells for their batteries but weâre pretty sure that itâs just a marketing scheme on their part because theyâre not Panasonic battery cells and if they were, then they should have stated it.
This power bank is reliably universal. We say that because it isnât exclusive to any kind of charging technology like Quick Charge or USB-C. This way, anybody can take advantage of the charging power that this power bank has to offer.
Whether itâs people that have USB-C or Quick Charge compatible device, this power bank is still able to accommodate those devices, not only that, theyâre able to accommodate those devices very well.
With its fast charging through each of its ports that are up to 5V/3.0A and a Max Output of 6A, this power bank is able to provide a max charging rate for most devices from smartphones to tablets. This power bank can even charge a MacBook that can take USB-C for it to charge since the PowerCore is able to provide 30W of power.
Overall, if youâre looking for a standardized power bank that is at the optimal level of power, design and build, then this one is it. It even has 2 Micro-USB Input ports so it can be reliable to you even faster!
Similar Power Bank
Power:
The power capacity doesnât suffer too much and it mainly matters with the way that youâre using it. It has 3 charging ports and each of them is able to give a charging rate of 5V/3.0A and the Max Output is 6A.
Itâs really rare, but this power bank has it, there are 2 Micro-USB Input ports that allow even this high power capacity power bank to fully recharge within 6 hours or less.
Design:
Its size and weight match the power capacity and charging capabilities. With that said, itâs actually possible to hold and use it only if youâre charging your smartphone alone. If youâre charging more than one device itâs going to need to be set down.
The look and functions are that of Ankerâs usual design with its minimalistic and sleek look.
Build:
Thereâs nothing rugged about the charger but it is built very well even though itâs made of plastic. On the inside, thereâs a range of safety tech features that charging tech that makes this power bank really stand above the rest.
Reliability:
One of the most reliable power bank on the market, this one nearly has it. Even though itâs lacking all the usual special charging tech like USB-C and Quick Charge, this power bank doesnât need things like that. This is mostly because all the Output ports are optimized to provide a charging speed near that standard.
Per Port: 5V/3.0A
Max Output: 6 Amps
This new addition to the Anker portable chargers is not only just an addition, itâs a great one. Itâs in all the areas that this charger is able to deliver in. Not just its Power, Design, and Build.
Itâs getting to the point where Anker truly has made a system to know just how to make their portable chargers absolutely powerful, while still maintaining a high-quality charging experience. No matter how absurd they go with the power capacity or charging speed.
